STG Label (Specialità tradizionale garantita)

The Traditional Specialty Guaranteed (STG) is an identification sign of the European Union created in 1992 which applies to agricultural products intended for human consumption or food processing produced by one of the Member States.

This label “does not refer to an origin but aims to highlight a traditional composition of the product, or a traditional mode of production”.

It applies to different product specialties and transformations, in particular to certain beers, mozzarella or Napoletana pizza which, unlike the product designations preserved by the DOP label, are not linked to a region.
